Challenge Poverty Week
As part of Challenge Poverty Week (Monday 5 to Sunday 11 October 2026), Airdrie Citizens Advice Bureau is shining a spotlight on one of the most significant issues affecting many people in our community: the rising cost of energy.
Every year, our advisers support clients who are struggling to manage gas and electricity bills, deal with energy debt, or keep their homes adequately heated during the colder months. For many households, energy costs represent a substantial proportion of expenditure, placing additional pressure on already stretched budgets.
With winter approaching, these concerns can become even more acute. Many people face difficult decisions about how to balance heating costs with other essential household expenses. We know from our work with clients that energy-related issues can have a significant impact on both financial wellbeing and quality of life.
Seeking advice at an early stage can often help prevent problems from escalating. Whether you are worried about an unexpected bill, finding it difficult to keep up with payments, or unsure what support may be available, help is available.
